Civil Engineering
Established in the year 2006 with an intake of 60 students. 12 students with Diploma in Civil Engineering will join at 2nd year level as lateral entry.
Lateral entry students will undergo bridge courses in Mathematics, Environmental engineering and Constitution and Professional ethics before completing their degree.
The department is represented by 3 Professors, 1 Associate Professor and Young team of Assistant Professors with an overall tally of 16 faculty out of which there are 4 Doctoral Degree holders and 6 more are pursuing doctorate. Recognized as research centre in 2011 by VTU to guide research scholars for their doctorates.
In 2012 M.Tech program was added in Computer Aided Design of Structures (CADS).
9 batch of students have completed their degree till date with an overall tally of around 450 students.
Many alumni are working in established and reputed companies with good track record Few of them have gone abroad to pursue higher studies after which they have been engaged in jobs. Some of them have been successful entrepreneurs.
The department has achieved a 5th rank in UG during 2012-13.
PG students have achieved SIX Rank since inception.
In the Department Research centre, Mr. Vinay Kumar B M has been awarded PhD under the guidance of Prof. Ananthan during 2018.
Mr. Nandan N Shenoy has been awarded PhD under the guidance of Prof. Shesha Prakash M N during 2020.
Other 7 candidates are pursuing research for their PhD.

Program Specific Outcomes
- Our graduates will have the ability to apply standard practices and strategies to design and construct different types of infrastructure facilities to comply with the societal requirements.
- Our graduates will have the proficiency to use modern tool, appropriate technologies and alternative materials for construction. They will always perpetuate the moral and ethical values of the profession to be considerate and socially responsible civil engineers.

Facilities available
- Department has smart classrooms and all classrooms are equipped with multimedia projectors
- Department has entered into Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Akshath Constructions and JP Constructions. Also the Department has initiated signing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Builders Association of India (BAI), Mysuru Chapter and Association of Consulting Civil Engineers (India) [ACCE(I)] to gain practical exposure to VVIET students.
- The Department Industry-Institute Interaction cell is actively involved in placing students for internship at reputed industries and organizations in and around mysuru. This has given an opportunity for students to identify real time problems in industry and enable them to implement the same during their final year project.
